The Gatenet CompactFlash MicroLan Card is an Ethernet adapter, developed for the Pocket PC, and can be used to browse the Web, to send e-mail, and to manage schedules at a speed of 10M bps. It is a compactflash type and compatible with Windows CE.

The Gatenet CompactFlash MicroLAN allows a user to connect his or her Pocket PC or HPC to a PC or server and to use a remote Network ActiveSync regardless of the time and place by means of a Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). In business, a user can access his or her computer at work and synchronize it from anyplace away from the work in a fast and precise way.

The Pocket Internet explorer equipped in the Pocket PC or HPC used to have no value in terms of applications in spite of its various functions. However, with the Gatenet CompactFlash Micro LAN, a user can access an existing network environment without having any extra expense, and use the Pocket Internet explorer, hence increasing the applicability of the explorer. The Gatenet CompactFlash Micro LAN enables the construction of mobile communications, search on the web, chatting, and e-commerce. In addition, combined with the Quick On Start function of the PDA, which does not require a booting process, it allows high-speed Internet surfing.

The Gatenet CompactFlash MicroLAN permits a user to control or manage Web servers, FTP servers, and DB servers in the Pocket PC and to emulate the servers on the Pocket PC using a VNC client. It is compatible with the Telnet program for Windows CE, thus allowing a user to access any electronic bulletin board system (BBS) such as Hitel and Chollian, or foreign Internet Relay Chat (IRC) sites.

The Gatenet CompactFlash MicroLAN improves the quality of streaming animation on the Internet, which can hardly be viewed with a serial or Universal Serial Bus (USB). It allows a user to enjoy various animation files in real time or downloaded, including VOD, music videos, and news, by installing the software of Pocket Video or Pocket TV. As for MP3 files, one can download a file with a capacity of 3MB in about 11 seconds.
